011.29.08 — NOW: — Mobile. Thought I would keep the home page fresh with some images form the mobile phone. I will continue to update all my galleries and I will be breaking out a few new projects in the near future. Transient is one.

06.24.08 — George Carlin: — an "old friend", gone. My beautiful wife took me to his performance in Sacramento as a birthday gift. He was preparing for his HBO special, lined paper in-hand, delivering one funny bit after another. See a cilp of his polished standup in Santa Rosa, California.

02.14.08 — Mentor — I have been thinking about teachers and guides since the Polaroid announcement. I will acknowledge my artistic mentors individually. Most I have come to know through books in the library. I was drawn to the work of William Eggleston years ago by his unconventional compositions, and his ability to capture the ubiquitous human presence in what appears to be vacant space: like his picture Near the river at Greenville, Mississippi from "The Democratic Forest" 1989. He is called by some as "The father of color photography", I see Eggleston as a visual shaman of the instinctively interpretive and open-ended take.
02.12.08 —Instant — I am, mostly, a self-taught photographer because of Polaroid instant photography. I have a personal connection to the process and the education it provided me. I learned, on location, intuitively, the necessary movement and commitment to frame compostions and determine the edge. See a few images from: Instant Measurements : a book I hope to publish soon. Reports are the film is dead. Very sad.
02.06.08 — Navigation — I use Slideshowpro to display my image galleries. Additional keyboard navigation features are available. The space bar will start a gallery in a self-running show. The arrow keys enable a manual, self-timed slideshow.

01.31.08 — Project — coveredUp is my current favorite. Images date back to 2004.
01.26.08 — Woody — aka Frankendog, surgically altered forever, is back to his normal behavior; still the same sweet lovable boy. Completely blind, Woody needed to have his left eye removed because of a detached lens that was giving him chronic pain. Now, 11 days after surgery he is happy-go-woody. See him on day 1 kinda sad. :( His purple stiches will be removed the day after the California primary.
01.24.08 — NYC — Just returned from Manhattan. Really is a wonderful place and a city that never sleeps. Beerzie, Max and I stumbled about from galleries to Central Park, under ground to the Subway and Greenwich Village as a home base. Mostly soaked in the atmosphere and made touristy snapshots, but I did manage to make a few random pictures that are more considered.

01.03.08 — New project — Bodyparts. In all my projects I pursue a concept, an idea that expands over time. This one looks at anatomy with no singular personality.
01.02.08 — Rising — This site is going through a transitional phase. I am developing a system to show my work and make an online archive for myself. I have chosen to go live and not wait for a "finished product" because, as I have discovered over time, the site will never be perfect.
01.01.08 — My first log entry — I will, if I can stomach it, write to give context to this site and my artistic intentions. I don't find it necessary to explain or decode my work, but additonal factual information and observations are a way for me to remember and share.
